Remember that time we blogged about our in-house sustainability initiative, Project Terravita blog Of course you do.
One of our goals for 2021 is to attain and implement the ISO 14001 Quality Management System. “But, what is this ISO 14001 you speak of?” I hear you cry? Let’s break it down, shall we?
The ISO 14001 is a set of guidelines and standards which were created to help companies reduce their industrial waste and environmental damage; a framework to help companies implement an environmental management system, otherwise known as an EMS.
What exactly is an EMS?
I’m glad you asked. An EMS is a collection of plans, guidelines, practices and general information that can help a company establish rules determining how they interact with the environment. Every organisation is different; each has its own legal requirements and environmental interactions, and therefore each EMS has to be tailored to suit each company.
The ISO 14001 is a little bit like a checklist of important elements a company would need in order to create an effective and successful EMS.
Right… What is the Beaumont PPS EMS?
Alongside environment policy and legislation we adhere to, we have our five pillars of Project Terravita <hyperlink to Project Terravita blog> to help us towards a greener way of working:
Rethink
Reduce
Reuse
Recycle
Respect
You can find out more about our five pillars here <hyperlink to Project Terravita blog>.
Teamwork makes the dream work; we value the opinions and thoughts of our team here at Beaumont PPS HQ, and regularly get together to discuss what else we can do to enhance our environmental performance.
OK, so you have a certificate. What do I get from this?
Peace of mind, my friend. We all need to do our bit for the planet, and by knowing that we at Beaumont PPS are ISO 14001 certified, it will give you, our valued customer, peace of mind knowing that we are an environmentally aware company. We source our suppliers and resources in an environmentally responsible manner, and are continually active on working to reduce our impact on the environment.
Excellent. What if I have any suggestions on ways we can improve our impact on the environment?
We would love to hear it; drop us an email. And if you’re looking to attain your very own ISO 14001 certification for your company, you can drop us an email for that too. We will point you in the right direction of where to start.
